Taken in the Quebrada de las Flechas, deep in Salta Province along Argentina’s Ruta 40.

We were traveling north, living out of the car, moving slowly through the high desert when these formations rose from the valley floor like arrows fixed mid-flight. Wind and pressure shaped them long before the road was carved through this stretch of country.

The land here feels exposed and unsoftened — thin air, pale stone, sparse brush holding on where it can.

It doesn’t ask to be admired.
It simply stands.
