Anyone can talk about the hunt. Few stay for the haul.
In Scotland this way of hunting goes back generations. Long before modern rifles and paved roads, stags were taken on foot and carried off the hill by ghillies and their ponies. That part has not changed.
After the shot the real work begins. The ghillies rope the stag to the saddle and start the descent. Across rock and heather, through weather that does not care who you are, man and horse move at the same steady pace they always have.
There is history in that walk. Not ceremony. Not theater. Just tradition kept alive by doing it properly.
